COMMISSIONS

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

BOOKING YOUR COMMISSION

To book your commission I ask for a minimum £25 deposit, you are welcome to pay more upfront if you wish. No booking is confirmed without this. Any deposit paid is then taken from the total cost of your artwork.

Deposits can be paid via bank transfer (UK or international), or by cash/card at events.

Read below for how your deposit is used.

PAYMENT

Once the portrait is complete and we have confirmed you are happy with it, the final payment balance is due within 14 days, via bank transfer or cash on collection.

I will send you a message confirming all payment details and dates.

Payments not received within 14 days, without prior agreement, will be charged an additional late fee of £35.

 

Please note, if you are unhappy with the final portrait and it cannot be changed with minor alterations, you will be asked to pay for half of the total balance and will not receive the artwork.

PRICING AND COST

I reserve the right to alter my commission pricing at any time to reflect increase in time spent, cost of materials, and demand.

Once your deposit is paid, your commission will not be affected by any price increases, as long as the portrait is due to be completed within 8 months. Should you wish to postpone the date of your portrait past 8 months, you may be charged at the new prices at the time.

Any prices quoted to you for your commission are valid for 30 days. Your deposit secures this price and time in my diary. Deposits paid more than 30 days after our initial consultation may require a new quote.

CANCELLATION

If you wish to cancel your commission before the artwork has been started, I reserve the right to retain 20% of your deposit, the remaining 80% will be transferred back to your account.*

*For commissions larger than 12x16 inches, I need to purchase paper specifically for your artwork. For this reason, and for the amount of time booked out, your deposit is non-refundable.

In the unlikely event I, for any reason, become unable to complete your commission, your deposit will be sent back to you as soon as possible.

Once your portrait has been started, I reserve the right to retain your full deposit for materials used and time spent.

 

While working on your commission I will keep you updated via email or WhatsApp... Should you not respond to updates for 30 days, you will be sent one follow up message, if this is also not responded to within 30 days, your commission may be cancelled and any deposits will be lost.

PRIVACY

I will ask for your delivery address for shipping purposes only, your address will not be shared or stored anywhere once your portrait is sent​​.

Your contact details and photographs are stored safely and password protected.

Your email address may be added to my mailing list, emails are occasional, you are able to unsubscribe at any time.

PHOTO USE

I will need at least one quality photograph to complete your commission - see my photo guide.

I reserve the right to decline a commission request if suitable photos cannot be provided. See my photo guide and get in touch for advice.

Reference photos provided of your pet may be shared on my social media for ‘photo vs artwork’ style content, please let me know if you would not like your photos or artwork shared.

COPYRIGHT

It is your responsibility to ensure no copyright laws are broken, particularly in the case of using any pet portraits taken by professional photographers - you will need permission from them before I am able to use their work for artwork.

I retain all copyright to the artwork I create, you must not reproduce or use the artwork without explicit permission from me.

If sharing your artwork online, I ask that you please credit Catrin Membery as the artist, and tag @catrinmembery.art so others can find my work.

ARTWORK DAMAGE

Your portrait will be gift wrapped, packaged securely, and sent via a tracked service to ensure safe delivery. In the unlikely case of artwork damage via post, please contact me ASAP and within 48 hours, with photographs of the package, damage and a description. 

Very minor damage from shipping such as a small bent corner or damage to the packaging, but not the artwork, will not require a full replacement piece - I will be more than happy to replace the mount or packaging for you, but you will be asked to cover shipping costs back and forth.

A full replacement piece of artwork will be offered in cases of extensive/irreparable water damage or folded artwork. This will be booked into the next available space in my diary and at no extra charge to you.
